Care for some bubbly?

Back for more? Oh I hope so…

Speaking of going back for more, does anyone else have a problem with store samples?

My anxiety/excitement with Fresh Market is all their “self-served” varied nuts, chocolate covered goodness and dried fruits. Fortunately enough, I was able to stay away from grazing at anything dipped and glazed with chocolate. On the other hand, I found myself snacking on those dried vegetables and the banana chips in my bag as I browsed the long isles.
This isn’t the first time so I always try to take preventative measure beforehand by eating a small bar or some fruits before leaving my apartment, but curiosity always wins over. Devilish snacks you are the source of my frustration!!

Anyways, let’s get back to the loot!! I had the best intentions to snap a picture of my collective groceries but could not find my camera anywhere! I had left it at the apartment :( No worries though, I foresee many more opportunities down the road.

First off is Zevia Natural Diet Sodas. I might be a bit late on the diet soda revolution but I am glad I jumped on the bandwaggon! Although I was never a real soda enthusiast, I have given up conventional diet and regular sodas for quite some time now but still found myself craving something a bit more sazzy than water. My favorite alternative in these occasions would be the fruit yet tart flavoring of the chemically rich crystal light. I’m fully aware that this is not much better than the sodas I have been avoiding.

With zero calories, zero carbohydrates, zero sugars and made with no artificial sweetners, colors, or flavors, Zevia is a revolutionary replacement to the traditional diet sodas we have once relied on. Zevia, as it’s name suggests, uses Stevia and Erythritol as part of it’s all-natural sweetner, both of which are extractred from fruits and vegetables. As an added bonus, all 6 flavors are kosher and gluten and dairy free.

Zevia comes in six flavors: Root Beer, Cola, Ginger Ale, Black Cherry, Lemon Twist and Orange.  At Fresh Market, I purchased the Cola and Lemon flavored Zevia and the dude also wanted to try the root beer flavor.

The Lemon Lime Twist reminded me of those other sparkling waters that have the bubbly yet slight fruity taste. I really enjoyed this flavor and would definitely repurchase. The Dude, on the other hand, had some reservations with the taste and even compared it to a “watered-down sprite.”  Ouch.

Next up, the Cola!

Personally, this was my favorite of the three. The Dude, oddly enough, prefers the “watered-down-sprite.”  I accredit his dislike to perhaps the slight watered down cola taste.

Last and certainly least, at least in my book…was the Root Beer.

I might be biased since I was never a fan of root beer in general, so naturally I found this flavor to be the least appealing. It’s easy to say I will not be re-purchasing this one.

I hope this was helpful to those craving an occasional sweet, yet natural, escape from water.

Till we meet again,

Bran Spankin New!!!

HOLA!!!!

After much contemplation, i gathered enough “cojones” to begin my first post! I thoroughly enjoy going through many of the other fabulous food blogs, and although there might be far more qualified individuals out there, there is always room for more food ;)

I am constantly searching for new healthy/organic foods that are not only nutritious but also delicious! I have a firm belief that eating well does not mean compromising taste. Every meal, no matter how small, should be a treat for your taste buds! It should be a small escape where you can recharge and refuel not only your body but also your spirit.

Although i eat mostly organic, i am however, surrounded by those who maintain no such reservations. My product reviews will not only contain my opinion, but also that of my carnivorous and always hungry boyfriend. By including two distinct points of view, I feel as though we can truly provide a more varied review that might apply to a broader reader audience. The sole purpose of these posts will be to not only introduce a variety of products, but to also present new ideas and recipes to fellow “foodies” out there!

My boyfriend, we’ll call him “Dude,” I know…how original right? But i suppose this will do for now. Dude promised me to take me to Wholefoods tomorrow, and with spring break now in full force I will be updating very often!!

I’m off to clip some coupons for tomorrow…Hey, I’m a college student after all!
